PLANO, Texas – Jones College placed fourth in the NJCAA Division II Men's Tennis National Championships at the Marty Berryman Tennis Center, the highest finish in program history.
Wallace State-Hanceville won the title with 45 points, Coastal Alabama-South was second with 42, Mississippi Gulf Coast was third with 38 points and Jones was fourth with 35.
Juan Francisco Pereyra advanced to the finals of No. 1 singles and
Felipe Morales reached the finals of No. 3 singles.
Ridge Jones reached the semifinals in No. 4 singles and
Luke Westmoreland made the semifinals of No. 5 singles.
Tom Garrett and
Ryan Roth lost in the quarterfinals of No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Pereyra and
Tom Garrett made the semifinals of No. 1 doubles, while Morales and
Reese Touchet reached the No. 2 doubles semifinals. Jones and
Ryan Roth lost a close one in No. 3 doubles quarterfinals.
The Bobcats finished the season at 16-2 and won the MACCC title for the fifth straight year.
Mississippi moved from NJCAA Division I to Division II prior to the start of the season and it paid off in Year 1 with six teams in the Top 15.
