ELLISVILLE – No. 12 Jones College defeated Millsaps University 6-3 here Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 12-0, while Millsaps falls to 0-2.
Jones will go to New Albany on Tuesday to meet Northeast and Blue Mountain Christian University.
Jones swept the doubles' points.
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) beat Camille Fremaux and Kiana Everhart in No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) and
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) whipped Segen Lister and Mackenzie Vordick in No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) edged Mary Dabadie and Madison Williams in No. 3 doubles.
Tocci beat Fremaux in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Tovar defeated Everhart in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2 and
Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) downed Alexis Oliver in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Savell fell to Williams in No. 3 singles, 4-6, 4-6 and Johnson lost 4-6,1-6 to Dabadie in No. 4 singles. Anderson dropped a 7-4, 2-6, 3-10 decision to Vordick in No. 5 singles.
