RAYMOND – No. 12 Jones College began the spring season with an 8-1 decision over Hinds here Tuesday afternoon at the Cleon McNight Tennis Center.
Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) and
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) won No. 1 doubles over Eni Anic and Fabiola Cruedez, 8-3.
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) won No. 2 doubles and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) and
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) won No. 3 doubles by forfeits.
Tocci defeated Anic in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Annalynn Housley (Nettleton) blanked Yasmin Colon in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Salter beat Sydnee Tiague in No. 4 singles, 8-2.
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) and
Madelyn James (Northeast Jones) won No.'s 5 and 6 singles, respectively, by forfeit.
The Bobcats, 2-0, will host East Central at 1 p.m. Friday. Hinds goes to Copiah-Lincoln on Friday.
