PERKINSTON – The No. 12 Jones College women posted an impressive 7-2 victory over No. 11 Mississippi Gulf Coast here Tuesday afternoon at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
It was the 60th consecutive MACCC win for the Bobcats.
Jones is now 10-0 overall, 5-0 in the conference. The Bulldogs fall to 5-1 overall, 4-1 in the league.
Jones got off to a quick start, claiming all of the doubles' points.
Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) and
Daniela Tovar (Venezeula) defeated Tanyaradzwa Kaome and Angela Moreno in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) edged Hayden Hensarling and Kendall Burn in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) and
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) downed Bayley Austin and Abigail Garman in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Tocci beat Kaome in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Tovar rallied past Moreno in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Johnson outlasted Hensarling in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 and
Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) beat Garman in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Savell dropped a 4-6, 2-6 decision to Askin in No. 3 singles and Anderson fell to Burn in No. 5 singles, 1-6, 3-6.
Jones hosts Itawamba in a 2 p.m. match on Thursday. MGCCC visits Coastal Alabama-South on Thursday.
