Lions roar past Jones with big fourth quarter, 66-49

SCOOBA – East Mississippi scored 30 of its 66 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 66-49 win Thursday night at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum.

Jones held EMCC to 36 points through three quarters and led after each, but was outscored 30-10 the final 10 minutes.

The Bobcats led 13-9 after one quarter and 26-22 at the half.

La'Genesis Johnson registered her third straight double-double one minute into the third quarter, finishing with 14 points and 18 rebounds – both new career-highs.

EMCC was able to rally for the big fourth quarter by holding Jones to a season-low 29 percent shooting.

Khyla Ragins finished with 17 points on 7 of 26 shooting and had seven turnovers. Johnson was the only other Bobcat in double figures. Chrystianna Beeman had three points and seven rebounds and drew six charges on the night.

Four Lions closed in double figures, paced by Shalea Boddie's 15. 

Jones returns home Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip against ASU Mid-South.
