PERKINSTON – Jones scored 15 of the game's first 19 points and led wire to wire in an 86-77 victory at Gulf Coast Thursday night.

The Bobcats won their sixth straight over the Bulldogs to improve to 4-1 while handing MGCCC, 2-1, its first loss.

Jones led 15-4 six minutes into the game, highlighted by a full court pass from Ky Pernell to Trey Smith to beat everyone to the bucket.

The lead grew to as many as 13 but MGCCC was able to stay within striking distance thanks to free throws nearly every trip down the floor. 

Jones led 45-34 at the half. 

K. Pernell's three-pointer in front of the Bobcat bench gave Jones its largest lead, 75-58, with 7:46 to play.

MGCCC put together one last push with a 12-1 run and got within six with a minute to play. 

Dimp Pernell flirted with a triple-double to lead all scorers with 25 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Ky added 21 and seven assists, LJ Hackman a double-double and Smith 10 points. Jylan Howze added nine points and seven boards in extended minutes.

Jones shot 53 percent on the night while holding MGCCC to 31 percent. It's a fifth straight game the Bobcats have shot over 50 percent.

Javeon Gordon led four Bulldogs in double figures with 18 off the bench.

Jones heads to Mississippi Delta Monday for a 6 p.m. tipoff in Moorhead.
