Bobcats climb to fifth in MACCC standings after sweep of Co-Lin

WESSON – Behind a complete game performance from Kade Keeton in the opener on the hill and eight extra-base hits over the two games, Jones swept Co-Lin 11-3 and 8-6 to run its winning streak out to five games.

Jones improved to 26-12 overall, 13-9 in the conference, jumping three spots from eighth into fifth. The teams who finish 2-5 in the standings host a best-of-3 playoff series.

Josh Cary and Murray Hutchinson had four hits apiece to help the Bobcats score 19 runs on 22 hits. Eleven different players had a hit.

Jones 11, Co-Lin 3 (7 inn.)

Hutchinson singled, Colson Harris singled and Cary homered in the first as Jones jumped on Co-Lin for four runs en route to a run-rule win.

Billy Garrity added an RBI-double in the third and Andrew Jones had an RBI-single to make it 7-0 Bobcats.

Jordan McKenzie's solo shot for the Wolves in the sixth pulled them within 8-2 before three Bobcat runs in the seventh.

Chase Honeycutt's two-RBI single plated the final two runs for Jones.

Keeton improved to 4-2 on the mound, allowing seven hits and two earned runs over seven innings with eight punchouts.

Jones 8, Co-Lin 6

Jones saw its 5-0 lead whittled down to a single run before holding on down the stretch to close out the two-game sweep.

Tyler Ducksworth's three-run jack made it 5-0 in the top of the second before Co-Lin responded with four runs in the bottom half on a pair of RBI-singles and an RBI-double.

After two, quick outs in the fifth, Jones was able to rally for three straight hits, including a two-run double for DeeJay Booth and RBI-single for Ducksworth to extend the lead back out to 8-4.

A pair of solo home runs by Josh Boone and DJ Walker trimmed the Bobcat lead back to 8-6 in the fifth.

Both teams went quietly the final two frames.

Colby Tubre started and surrendered four runs on six hits over 2.1 innings. Blake Summerlin tossed the next 2.1 frames and allowed the final two runs before Drew Druckenmiller came in and shut down the Wolves to earn his sixth victory.

Ducksworth finished 2-for-4 with a season-high four RBIs.
