ELLISVILLE – No. 14 Jones College blanked Southwest 9-0 here Wednesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats end regular season play at 22-3 overall and a perfect 18-0 in the MACCC.
Jones will now host the Region 23 Tournament April 21-23. The Bobcats draw an opening round bye and will not play until the semifinals on April 22.
In No. 1 doubles,
Trey Hilton (Pearl) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) defeated Canden Grantham and Parker Wilks, 8-4.
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Jack Owens (Brandon) beat Jacob Douglas and Caleb Boutwell in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Tahir El-Zare (Hattiesburg) whipped JP Johnson and Ryan Simmons in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Vanecek downed Boutwell in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Hilton whipped Grantham in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) beat Simmons in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Jabour defeated Johnson in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Owens rallied past Wilks in No. 5 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 and El-Zare beat Douglas in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Southwest concludes the season at 4-14 overall and in league play.
