ELLISVILLE – No. 12 Jones College has advanced to the Region 23 Tournament finals.
The Bobcats defeated No. 19 Copiah-Lincoln 5-1 here Friday afternoon in the semifinals at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones faces No. 15 Gulf Coast at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the championship. MGCCC edged No. 16 Meridian 5-4 in Friday's other semifinal match. Meridian will play Co-Lin at 8 a.m. Saturday in the consolation match.
The top three teams will advance to the NJCAA Division I Tournament May 16-20 in Plano, Texas.

Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) beat Ty Nelson and Lawson Pearson in No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) blanked Rob Johnson and August Sullivan in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) lost 3-8 to Julian Parada and Julian Toloza in No. 1 doubles.
Vanecek defeated Nelson in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Peoples shut out Samuel Boutwell in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Hilton blanked Caleb Myers in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
