MARION, Ala. – The 12th-ranked Jones College Bobcats won an exciting, 5-4 decision over the No. 17 Central Alabama Trojans here Tuesday afternoon at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 22-2 on the season and will end the regular season with a 12:30 p.m. home match Wednesday vs. Southwest.
Central Alabama, 9-11, visits Coastal Alabama-South on Friday.
The Bobcats won two of the doubles' courts.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) beat Kelly Martin and Jane League in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) edged Alyssa Vandiver and Morgan Strickland in No. 3 doubles, 9-8 (7-5). In No. 2 doubles, Blakely Valdez and Lily Truchet defeated
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo), 8-3.
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) blanked Vandiver in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Johnson won a close one over Truchet in No. 5 singles, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 10-8. Endt defeated Anna Woods in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Martin downed Vlasceanu in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Valdez beat Höddinghaus in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-4. League defeated Seward in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
