ELLISVILLE – Twelfth-ranked Jones College wrapped up MACCC play with an 18-0 record.
Jones crushed Southwest 9-0 here Wednesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats conclude the regular season at 23-2 and will play next in the Region 23 Tournament April 21-23 on campus. Jones will not play until the semifinals on April 22.
In No. 1 doubles,
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) beat Larina Anderson and Jaslyn Young, 8-0 and
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) defeated Anne Speights and Lexi Freeman, 8-0.
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) and
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) beat Anderson in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) defeated Kelsey Jones in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Endt defeated Young in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Salter blanked Freeman in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Anderson shut out Speights in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Madelyn James (Northeast Jones) won No. 6 singles by forfeit.
Southwest ends the season at 2-16 overall and in the conference.
