Bobcats post two walk-off victories over Tigers

ELLISVILLE – Baseball fans got their money's worth here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
 
Jones College posted a pair of dramatic, walk-off victories over Northeast, winning 10-9 and 8-7.
 
The Bobcats scored the game-winning run in the opener on a bases-loaded hit by pitch and got the winning run in game two on a squeeze bunt.
 
Jones is now 17-9 overall and 4-6 in MACCC play. The Bobcats go to East Central for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday.
 
Northeast falls to 11-10 overall and 2-6 in conference play. The Tigers visit Northwest on Tuesday.
 
Jones 10, Northeast 9
 
The Bobcats trailed 9-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning.
 
Jones scored five runs in the sixth to trim the lead to 9-8. Luke Lycette (Northwest Rankin), Murray Hutchinson (Madison Central) and Tyler Ducksworth (South Jones) each had RBI singles and Chase Honeycutt (DeSoto Central) drove in a run with a based-loaded walk and would later score on a wild pitch.
 
In the bottom of the ninth with the bases empty and two outs, Josh Cary (Petal) got a base hit to left, the ball got past the left fielder and Cary made it all the way to third base. Blake Summerlin (Northwest Rankin) then singled to left to score Cary and tie the game at 9-9.
 
Lycette drew a walk and pinch-hitter McCrae Houston (Northwest Rankin) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hutchinson was then hit by a pitch to force Summerlin home with the winning run.
 
Drew Druckenmiller (Mobile, Alabama), the fourth Bobcat pitcher of the game, got the win to improve to 5-2. He tossed the final two innings, allowed no runs or hits and posted three strikeouts. Starter Kade Keeton (Brandon) went 4.2 innings, followed by Baylor Ormes (Gulfport) for an inning and Cade Mattison (Lamar Christian) for 1.1 innings.
 
Hutchinson had two singles and two RBIs with Colson Harris (West Jones) slugging his first home run of the season. DeeJay Booth (Oak Grove) had a double with Ducksworth, Summerlin and Lycette adding singles.
 
Alex Marshall tripled and singled with Noah Foster and Jackson Owen each getting a double and a single for the Tigers. Gray Berry had a three-run home run for Northeast.
 
Aidan Foeller, the fifth Tiger pitcher, got the loss. He pitched the final 0.2 innings, allowed two runs on one hit. He is now 0-1 on the year.
 
Jones 8, Northeast 7
 
It was another big time rally in game two.
 
Jones trailed 7-3 entering the bottom of the sixth of the seven-inning game.
 
The Bobcats sent eight batters to the plate and scored twice to make it 7-5. Ducksworth walked and later scored on a wild pitch and Lycette had an RBI single.
 
In the seventh, Booth led off led off with a base hit to right and Ducksworth followed with a double. Booth would score on a wild pitch and after Billy Garrity (Sumrall) drew a walk, Ducksworth scored on a wild pitch to tie it up at 7-7.
 
Harris was then hit by a pitch and after a ground out, Andrew Jones (Brandon), in only his second at-bat of the season, squeezed Garrity home with the winning run. 
 
Lycette moved over from third bases and pitched the final 0.2 innings to gain the win. He allowed one hit and struck out one to improve to 1-1. Starter Peyton Bell (Mobile, Alabama) went 4.1 innings and reliever Kace Matthews (West Jones) pitched 2.0 innings.
 
Ducksworth doubled for the Bobcats with Booth, Garrity, Cary, Summerlin and Lycette adding singles.
 
Shawn Dalton Weatherbee had a three-run home run, doubled, singled and had five RBIs for the Tigers. Logan Bland also doubled and singled with Berry, Jackson McCoy and Jackson Owen adding doubles.
 
Jake Reeder pitched 1.0 inning in relief and got the loss, dropping his record to 2-1. He allowed three runs, three hits and struck out. Tiger starter Colby Holcombe, a Mississippi State commit, went 5.1 innings, allowed five runs (three earned), two hits, walked five and struck out 11.
