WESSON – The No. 12 Jones College Bobcats blanked No. 20 Copiah-Lincoln 9-0 here Friday afternoon at the Wolves Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 15-1 overall and 13-0 in the MACCC. Co-Lin drops to 8-6 overall and in the league.
In No. 1 doubles,
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) beat Julianna Madrid and Makiyah Adams, 8-2. In No. 2 doubles,
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) defeated Valeria Rodriguez and Morgyn Brister, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles,
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) blanked Gracee Warren and Britany Barnett, 8-0.
Vlasceanu edged Madrid in No. 1 singles, 7-5, 7-6 (6) and Höddinghaus downed Rodriguez in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Seward defeated Brister in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and
Sarah Powell (Madison -Ridgeland Academy) shut out Keegan Thurman in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Johnson blanked Barnett in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Endt whipped Warren in No. 6, singles, 6-0, 6-2.
In extra matches,
Madelyn James (Northeast Jones) beat Kassidy Cupit, 8-4, and
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) won her match.
Jones will host Hinds in a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday and will travel on Wednesday to face Northeast Mississippi.
Co-Lin visits Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
