ELLISVILLE – No. 12 Jones College won its 63rd consecutive dual match here Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones shutout No. 24 East Central, 9-0, improving to 14-0 overall and 12-0 in the MACCC. The Bobcats will not play again until March 23 when they entertain Loyola (Louisiana).
ECCC, 6-7 overall and 5-6 in the conference, hosts Hinds on March 22.
In No. 1 doubles,
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) edged Maud Tsaura and Camila Vanegas, 9-8 (7-3). In No. 2 doubles,
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) beat Ava Espey and Madison Gregg, 8-5.
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) and
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) whipped Anna Elmore and Ivey Bruntlett, 8-1.
In No. 1 singles, Vlasceanu defeated Tsaura, 6-4, 6-4. Höddinghaus edged Vanegas in No. 2 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 10-8. In No. 3 singles, Johnson beat Gregg, 6-1, 6-0 and Endt whipped Bruntlett in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Salter downed Espey in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) defeated Elmore in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
