FULTON – No. 15 Jones College won its 61st consecutive match with an 8-1 decision over No. 23 Itawamba here Tuesday afternoon at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats are now 12-0 overall and 10-0 in the MACCC.
Jones will be at home for a 2 p.m. Friday match vs. No. 13 Meridian. Itawamba, 3-6, travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
The Bobcats dominated the doubles' matches.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) blanked Sydney Ostrander and Martina Coghetto in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) whipped Madelyn Angle and Brianna Ball in No. 2 singles, 8-2.
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) and
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) shut out Belle Powell and Aidan Nipp in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Seward defeated Ostrander in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and
Sarah Powell blanked Angle in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) downed Ball in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Salter defeated Nipp in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 8-6. Anderson defeated Belle Powell in No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-1. Vlasceanu fell to Coghetto in No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-0, 5-10.
