DECATUR – The 15th-ranked Jones College Bobcats shut out East Central 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon at the ECCC Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 5-0 and East Central falls to 1-1.
The Bobcats return home to face Holmes in a 1 p.m. Friday match. ECCC visits Holmes on Thursday.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) rallied for a 6-7, 6-2, 10-2 win over Maud Tsaura in No. 1 singles.
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) posted a hard-fought, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 victory over Camila Vanegas in No. 2 singles.
Addy Seward (Richland) whipped Madison Gregg in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) blanked Ivey Bruntlett in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) defeated Ava Espey in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) downed Anna Elmore in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Jones dominated in doubles.
Vlasceanu and Höddinghaus beat Tsaura and Vanegas in No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Seward and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) downed Gregg and Espey in No. 2 doubles, 8-0, and Johnson and Endt defeated Elmore and Bruntlett in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
