ELLISVILLE – The 15th-rated Jones College Bobcats secured an 8-1 win over No. 20 Copiah-Lincoln here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
It was the 59th consecutive match victory for the Bobcats, who are now 10-0 on the season.
The Bobcats travel to Hinds for a 2 p.m. match on Friday. Co-Lin,4-3, hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
Jones won all of the doubles' points.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) beat Juliana Madrid and Valeria Rodriguez in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) defeated Makiyah Adams and Morgyn Brister in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) downed Keegan Thurman and Britany Barnett in No. 3 doubles, 8-4. In an extra match,
Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) beat Gracee Warren, 8-1.
Höddinghaus beat Rodriguez in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-5 and Seward defeated Adams in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) downed Brister in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Johnson whipped Thurman in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Endt defeated Barnett in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-4. In No. 1 singles, Vlasceanu lost a close match to Madrid, 6-7, 6-0, 6-10.
