Ducksworth's eighth inning home run leads Jones over No. 19 Southeastern

DECATUR Tyler Ducksworth hit an eighth inning, two-run home run to left to lift Jones over No. 19 Southeastern, 5-3, in extras on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats dropped the nightcap, 19-8, to Pearl River in the second of two games at Clark-Gay Field in Decatur.

Jones moved to 4-2 with its second Top 20 win in a week.

Jones 5, Southeastern 3 (8 inn.)

Billy Garrity homered to give Jones an early lead and Ducksworth hit a two-out, two-run home run to left to help the Bobcats down the Blackhawks in eight innings in a scheduled seven-inning contest.

Dalton Tanner went 4.2 innings in a no-decision. Luke Lycette tossed 1.1 scoreless and Drew Druckenmiller (2-0) allowed two hits in two innings to get the win.

DeeJay Booth's sac fly gave Jones a 2-0 lead in the third before Southeastern tied it on Luis Acosta's two-run homer.

The teams traded runs in the fourth on Colson Harris' RBI-single and Maxton Polad's RBI-double.

Scoreless in the sixth and seventh, Ducksworth sealed the Bobcat win with his long ball.

Pearl River 19, Jones 8 (8 inn.)

The fourth-ranked Wildcats pulled away from an 8-5 ballgame with a six-run fifth and run-ruled Jones in eight.

PRCC hit four home runs to go along with a bases-clearing triple and two doubles on its 12 hits.

Jakob Wax doubled and Chase Honeycutt helped score Wax to make it 3-2 in the second.

A two-run and three-run homer for PRCC extended its lead to 8-2 in the fourth.

Josh Cary and DeeJay Booth finished with three hits apiece.

The teams combined to use nine pitchers.

Jones returns home on Wednesday, weather permitting, to host Nunez for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
