ELLISVILLE – No. 15 Jones College notched an impressive, 9-0 victory over No. 21 Mississippi Gulf Coast here on a chilly Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 9-0 and will host Copiah-Lincoln at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Gulf Coast, 4-4, will be at home vs. Southwest on Tuesday.
The Bobcats were impressive again, posting their sixth straight shutout.
In No. 1 doubles,
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) won over Kasey Kent and Tanyaradzwa Kaome, 4-0, retired.
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) defeated Abigail Garman and Hayden Hensarling, 8-2, in No. 2 doubles.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) beat Bayley Askin and Ashleigh Chelette in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Vlasceanu downed Kaome in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Höddinghaus defeated Hensarling in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Seward whipped Askin in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and
Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) blanked Garman in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Johnson beat Chelette in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Endt shut out Ashlegh Wine in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
