ELLISVILLE – Sixth-ranked Jones College smothered Bishop State (Alabama) 81-36 here Thursday evening at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Sophomore forward
Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) scored 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, giving her a double-double in seven of the eight Bobcat games this season. The Florida State signee connected on 12-of-17 shots from the floor.
Arianna Patton (Meridian) finished with 15 points and three steals.
Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central) and
Carly Keats (Neshoba Central) each eight points with Keats dishing out seven assists.
Jones made 32-of-66 shots for 49 percent and limited the Wildcats to only 15-of-62 from the floor for 24 percent. The Bobcats dominated on the glass, outrebounding Bishop State, 54-29.
Jamirica Roberson had 17 points to top the Wildcats.
The Bobcats led 14-4 after the first quarter, 39-11 at halftime and 64-23 after three quarters. The Bobcats' longest lead was 76-28 with 4:39 remaining after Keats made a 3-pointer.
Jones (6-2) will play its next game at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Shelton State in Tuscaloosa.
Bishop State (1-4) goes to Calhoun (Alabama) on Saturday.
