ELLISVILLE – Jones College improved to 13-0 with an 8-1 win over East Central here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones has now won 42 consecutive matches dating back to February of 2019.
The Bobcats, 11-0 in the MACCC, will host Coastal Alabama-South at 1 p.m. on March 22.
East Central, 5-6, goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
Jones opened the match by sweeping the doubles' points.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) defeated Natalia Beltran and Alejandra Vargas in No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) and
Addy Seward (Richland) blanked Sarah Cline and Anna Moore in No. 2 doubles, 8-0. In No. 3 doubles,
Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) beat Madison Autry and Laila Sisson, 8-2. In an extra match,
Stori Endt (Vancleave) and
Kamryn Rodriguez (Newton County) defeated Courtney Gill and Madison Gregg, 8-1.
Höddinghaus downed Vargas in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3. In No. 3 singles, Seward beat Cline, 6-4, 6-2. Mills defeated Moore in No.4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Chism whipped Gregg in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Johnson beat Gill in No. 6 singles,6-1, 6-1. In No.1 singles, Vlasceanu lost a close match to Beltran, 7-6, 2-6, 6-10. In extra matches, Rodriguez beat Sisson,9-7, and Endt beat Autry, 8-6.
