Complete game paces Bobcats to fourth straight victory

ELLISVILLE – Jones College played a complete game in posting its fourth straight victory here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
 
The Bobcats whipped Meridian Community College,74-54, to improve to 5-4 overall and in the MACCC. 
 
Jones shot 54 percent from the floor (32-of-59) and held the Eagles to only 36 percent (20-of-55). The Bobcats forced 18 turnovers and only turned the ball over 13 times.
 
Tradavis Thompson (Raymond) led four Jones players in double figures with 22 points. Ashton Campbell (Forrest County AHS) added 17 and Jabari Bowman (Warren Central) and John Rawls (East Marion) had 11 each.
 
Rawls and Korey Jones (Allen, Texas) each had eight rebounds. Jones had five assists with Thompson, Campbell and Reggie Gause Jr. (Folsom, Louisiana) dishing out four assists each. Campbell had five steals.
 
Jones never trailed in the game.
 
Leading 14-13, the Bobcats went on a 13-3 run. Campbell got a steal and ended the fast break with a layup to give Jones a 27-16 lead with 5:37 to play in the opening half.
 
A Campbell layup with 22 seconds showing gave the Bobcats their largest lead of the first half at 37-22. Jones led 37-24 at halftime. 
 
A 3-pointer by Tyron Moore pulled MCC within 41-29 with 17:53 to play, but that's the closest the visitors would get.
 
The Bobcats then took control with a 10-0 run with DeTrevian Broome's (Raymond) jumper giving Jones a 51-29 lead with 13:15 remaining.
 
JC's longest lead came with 4:24 to play when Jeff Blackmon II (Ridgeland) hit a 3-pointer to make it 66-39.
 
The Bobcats dominated inside, outscoring the Eagles 46-18 on points in the paint and outrebounding them,37-32. Jones also outscored MCC 21-7 in points off turnovers and 12-2 in fast break points.
 
Moore was the only Eagle in double figures with 10 points. 
 
The Eagles, 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the conference, go to Southwest on March 15.
