DECATUR – Another day, another victory for the Jones College women's tennis team.
The Bobcats defeated Central Alabama 9-0 here Saturday afternoon at the East Central Tennis Complex.
It was the 40th consecutive win for the Bobcats, dating back to 2019.
Jones is now 11-0 on the season. The Bobcats will host Meridian at 2 p.m. on Monday and East Central at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and
Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) beat Kelly Martin and Ellyse Strickland in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) and
Addy Seward (Richland) defeated Alyssa Vandiver and Kaelyn Albright in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) and
Allie Johnson (Hernando) won No. 3 doubles by default.
Vlasceanu beat Martin in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-6. Höddinghaus blanked Vandiver in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Seward defeated Anna Woods in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Mills whipped Strickland in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Johnson downed Albright in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Kamryn Rodriguez (Newton County) won No. 6 singles by default.
Central Alabama, 3-9, plays at Meridian on Sunday, March 7.
