Freshmen lead the way in second straight Bobcat road win

DECATUR – Jabari Bowman had 14 points and 13 rebounds for his first career double-double and Korey Jones and Reggie Gause Jr. added career highs as Jones won its second straight road game, 71-65, at East Central Monday night.

Jones improved to 3-4, while East Central fell to 1-9.

Leading 43-42 at the break, the Bobcats scored the first nine points of the second half – capped by Gause's 3-pointer – to take its largest lead of the game at 52-42.

East Central got within 59-56 with 8:33 to play on an and-one by Emmanuel Harper, but wouldn't get any closer.

Jones pounded the ball in the paint the entire second half, scoring their final 18 points inside. They dominated EC 44-24 in the paint on the night.

The Bobcats shot 46 percent from the floor for the night and held the Warriors to seven field goals and a dismal 25 percent shooting in the second half.

The trio of Gause, Jones and Bowman had the hot hand(s) on the night, combining to go 17-of-29 from the floor for 44 points. Cowandric Samuel added eight points in nine minutes off the bench. 

Devin Carter and Demajion Topps had 14 apiece to lead EC.

The Bobcats are set to host Southwest on Thursday, March 4, their first home game in 31 days.
