Partridge tosses no-hitter; Rogers strikes out 10 to lead Bobcats

ELLISVILLE Kameron Partridge (West Lauderdale) threw a no-hitter to lead No. 12 Jones College to a 4-0 victory over Southwest Mississippi here Tuesday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
 
Dalton Rogers (Slidell, Louisiana) followed that up with another shutout, striking out 10 as the Bobcats beat the Bears 10-0 in five innings.
 
JC, 3-3, hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Friday. The games will air on JCJC.TV.
 
Southwest, 1-5, visits Meridian on Friday.
 
Game 1, Jones 4, Southwest 0
Partridge had nine strikeouts as he improved to 1-0.
 
Partridge allowed four baserunners in the seven-inning game. He hit two batters, another reached on an error and a fourth reached on a strikeout when the ball got away from the catcher.
 
Jones took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Chase Honeycutt (DeSoto Central) led off with a single and was sacrificed to second base by Andrew Howard (South Jones). Murray Hutchinson (Madison Central) reached on an infield single and stole second. 
 
Hunter French (DeSoto Central) delivered a two-single to left.  After DeeJay Booth (Oak Grove) walked and Preston Ratliff (Slidell, Louisiana) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jesse Johnson's (Purvis) sacrifice fly to center drove in French.
 
The Bobcats added a run in the sixth when Hunter LeBlanc (Luling, Louisiana) reached on an error, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Howard's sacrifice fly to left.
 
Hutchinson had two singles for Jones. French, Ratliff, Johnson and Honeycutt added singles.
 
Chase Guitreau went all 6.0 innings and took the loss. He gave up six hits, struck out one, walked one and hit.
 
Game 2, Jones 10, Southwest 0 (5 inn.)
Rogers, a Southern Miss commit, had two strikeouts in each of the game's five innings. He had no walks and picked off two baserunners. He is now 1-1- on the season.
 
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the second when Ratliff led off with a single and later scored on Brady Spring's (Brookhaven Academy) RBI single.
 
Jones sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs in the fourth. Tyler Ducksworth (South Jones) led off the inning with a double. Booth had a two-run single in the inning and Honeycutt and LeBlanc also had singles. Hutchinson drew a bases-loaded walk and Johnson added an RBI groundout.
 
The Bobcats ended the game with three runs in the fifth.
 
Honeycutt had a walk, Hutchinson had an RBI single, French singled, Booth walked and Ratliff ended the game with a two-run single.
 
Ducksworth doubled and singled and Ratliff singled twice for Jones. Hutchinson, French, Booth, Spring, Honeycutt and Leblanc added singles.
 
Jerod Williams doubled and singled for the Bears. Austin Willis and Jonathan Havard added singles.
 
Starter Blayze Boyd went 3.1 innings and got the loss. He allowed seven runs (five earned), seven hits, struck out three, walked two and hit one Logan Hartfield pitched the final 1.1 innings. He allowed three runs, three hits and walked one.
