PERKINSTON – The Jones College women's tennis team defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast 6-3 in a battle of unbeatens here Saturday afternoon at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 6-0 and will visit Hinds for a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday.
MGCCC falls to 5-1 and will host Itawamba on Monday.
Jones opened the match by winning two of the doubles' points.
Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) and
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) beat Krissy Georgieva and Ally Bowen, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles.
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) and
Addy Seward (Richland) defeated Kaylen Bond and Anna Stringer in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) and
Stori Endt (Vancleave) fell to Kasey Kent and Tia Topps in No. 3 doubles, 2-8.
Vlasceanu rallied past Georgieva in No. 1 singles, 3-6,6-2, 10-7. Seward beat Kent in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Mills downed Bond in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Chism defeated Stringer in No. 5 singles, 7-6, 5-0. Höddinghaus lost to Bowen in No. 2 singles, 4-6,3-6.
Kamryn Rodriguez (Newton County) fell to Topps in No. 6 singles, 4-6, 4-6.
