MARIANNA, Fla. – Jones held Pensacola State to season-lows in points and field goal percentage to run away with a 66-39 win on Friday in the opening game for the Bobcats at the Panhandle Classic.
Jones improved to 9-0, while Pensacola State fell to 7-6.
The Bobcats built a 35-19 lead at the half and would go on to win by 27 points.
Calvin Temple led all Bobcats with 16 points, followed by
Ashton Campbell with 13 and
Kaeden Laws with 10 points, eight blocks and seven rebounds.
No Pirate finished in double figures. Jarveil Gainey had nine.
Jones outshot Pensacola 47 to 27 percent, had a plus-15 edge on the boards and registered 16 steals and 12 blocks.
The Bobcats face third-ranked and tournament host Chipola Saturday at 7 p.m.
