MERIDIAN – The Jones College women's tennis defeated Marion Military Institute (Alabama) 6-3 here Saturday afternoon at the Northeast Park Tennis Center.
It was the season opener for the Bobcats.
Jones won two of the doubles' points.
Addy Seward (Richland) and
Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) beat Anna Waller and Eve Crossett, 8-3.
Stori Endt (Vancleave) and
Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) blanked Catherine Taylor and Sarah Jeong, 8-0.
Mia Höddinghaus (Germany) and
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) lost to Julia Kelly and Madelyn Dibble, 3-8.
Seward defeated Dibble in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2 and Mills whipped Crossett 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles.
Allie Johnson (Hernando) downed Taylor in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and
Kamryn Rodriguez (Newton County) defeated Jeong in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Vlasceanu lost to Kelly in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 5-10 and Höddinghaus fell to Waller, 1-6, 2-6 in No. 2 singles.
Jones will make its home debut at 2 p.m. on Tuesday when they meet Itawamba.
