PERKINSTON – Sophomore All-American guard
Daisha Bradford went for 21 and 10 in her Bobcat debut and No. 8 Jones led by double digits throughout in a season-opening win at Gulf Coast Monday night.
Jones won its 18th straight game over their south rival and improved to 64-7 in division play under
Missy Bilderback.
The Bobcats led 32-19 at the break and by as many as 20 early in the third quarter.
Gulf Coast scored the last eight points of the quarter to get it back to an 11-point deficit.
Bradford scored 16 of her game-high 21 in the second half and also added four steals and two assists.
Newcomers
Jayla Alexander and
Kamryn Estell finished with 10 and nine in their Bobcat debuts.
Gulf Coast was led by Ayanna McNairy and Sharisse Bridges who had 12 points each. Alisha Tucker added 10.
Jones didn't shoot it exceptionally well on the night, finishing 34 percent from the floor and just 17 of 33 from the charity stripe.
The Bobcats (1-0) host Pearl River (1-0) on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Ellisville.
