ELLISVILLE – The No. 19 Jones College Bobcats won an exciting matcher over No. 25 Copiah-Lincoln 5-4 here Tuesday afternoon at Bobcat Tennis Courts.
Jones improved to 7-0 on the season, while Co-Lin fell to 6-1.
The Bobcats won two of the doubles matches.
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) and
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) beat Madison Shows and McKenzie Shows 8-2 in No. 2 doubles.
Stori Endt (Vancleave) and
Brooke Chism (Pontotoc) whipped Brittany Barnett and Grace Phillips in No. 3 doubles, 8-1. Bella Chella (South Africa) and
Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) lost 2-8 to Paula Coronado and Susana Patino in No. 1 doubles.
Mills beat Madison Shows in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3, Chism whipped Barnett in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and
Kamryn Rodriguez (Newton County) downed Phillips in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Chella lost to Coronado in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 8-10. Viljoen fell to Patino in No. 2 singles, 1-6, 6-3, 7-10 and Hodges lost to McKenzie Shows in No. 4 singles, 4-6, 4-6.
Jones will host East Central at 1 p.m. Friday. Co-Lin hosts Meridian Saturday.
