No. 20 Bobcats go 1-2 vs. ranked foes in Alabama

GADSDEN, Ala. – The 20th- rated Jones College Bobcats went 1-2 vs. three ranked opponents in the Wallace St.-Hanceville (Alabama) Invitational.
 
Jones lost 6-3 to No. 16 Wallace St.-Hanceville on Feb. 21. On Feb. 22, the Bobcats shut out No. 25 Gadsden St., 9-0, and lost 8-1 to No. 11 USC-Sumter (South Carolina).
 
The Bobcats, 6-2, will go to Mississippi Gulf Coast at 1 p.m. on Monday. Jones hosts Copiah-Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and East Central at 2 p.m. on Friday.

The Bobcats won two of the doubles matches.
 
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) and James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) beat Florent Savage and Gage Anderson 8-5 in No. 2 doubles. Gaspar Meda (Argentina) and Trey Hilton (Pearl) defeated Zach Mastin and Hudson Thompson 8-5 in No. 3 doubles. Kwanda Mbalekwa (South Africa) and Jacob Johnson (North Pike) lost 5-8 to Sebastian Arce and Will Brackin in No. 1 doubles.
 
Meda whipped Brackin in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1. In No. 2 singles, Mbalekwa lost 2-6, 2-6 to Arce in No. 1 singles and Panzica fell to Savage in No. 3 singles, 3-6, 0-6. Johnson dropped a close match to Mastin in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 7-10. Hilton fell 6-7, 3-6 in No. 5 singles to Anderson and McWilliams lost 6-2, 5-7, 0-1 in No. 6 singles to Thompson. In an extra match, Ryan Myers (Madison Central) beat Luke Moellering, 9-8 (7-2).

The Bobcats were impressive all the way around in blanking Gadsden St.
 
Panzica beat Alex Ivey in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, Johnson whipped Kyle Hale in No .2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Hilton beat Justin Blake in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2. McWilliams downed Chase White in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-4, Myers defeated Landon Macoy in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-0, and Greyson Parman (Warren Central) beat Adam Vitolo in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-3.
 
Panzica and McWilliams defeated Vitolo and Hale in No. 1 doubles, 8-2, Hilton and Branden McKee (Northwest Rankin) edged Blake and White in No. 2 doubles, 9-7, and Myers and Parman blanked Macoy and Ivey in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

Meda grabbed a 7-5, 6-4 victory in No. 1 singles over Heimenarri Lai San. Mbalekwa lost 2-6, 2-6 to Jonjay Paladines in No. 2 singles, Panzica fell to Albert Rocard in No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-7, and Johnson lost 0-6, 2-6 to Sabri Laphitz in No. 4 singles. Hilton fell to Jamie Sione in No. 5 singles, 3-6,2-6, and McWilliams lost to Hector Romero in No. 6 singles, 2-6, 3-6.
 
Mbalekwa and Johnson dropped a close,7-9 match in No. 1 doubles. Panzica and McWilliams fell to Rocard and Samuel Cruz in No. 2 doubles, 4-8, and Meda and Hilton lost 5-8 to Lucas Rodriguez and Romero in No. 3 doubles.
