ELLISVILLE – The 20th-ranked Jones College Bobcats had a strong day at Bobcat Tennis Courts here Tuesday afternoon.
Jones whipped Copiah-Lincoln, 7-2.
The Bobcats, 7-2 on the season, host East Central at 1 p.m. Friday.
Jones took five of the doubles matches.
Gaspar Meda (Argentina) edged Julian Toloza in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6.
Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven) whipped Skyler Rasberry in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and
Jacob Johnson (North Pike) downed John Ready in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Ryan Myers (Madison Central) defeated Tyler Leggett in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and
James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) blanked Preston Ivy in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 1 singles,
Kwanda Mbalekwa lost to Jodi Morey, 0-6, 2-6.
Panzica and McWilliams shut out Ready and Samuel Boutwell in No. 2 doubles, 8-0, and Meda and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) blanked Rasberry and Andrew Hulon in No. 3 doubles, 8-0. Mbalekwa and Johnson dropped a 6-8 decision to Morey and Toloza in No. 1 doubles.
The Wolves, 1-5, host Meridian on Saturday.
