Bobcats Split Twinbill at Coastal Alabama-East

BREWTON, Ala. – Gabe Lacy's two-out, two-run home run helped lift No. 18 Jones to a dramatic 7-6 victory at Coastal Alabama-East in Game 1 before the homestanding Warhawks held off the Bobcats for a 13-11 win in the finale for a split.

Jones fell to 2-5 while CAC moved to 5-6.

The Bobcats will continue a six-game road swing on Friday in Bay Minette, Ala., when they face No. 7 Northwest Florida and Coastal Alabama-South at noon and 4 p.m.

Jones 7, Coastal Alabama-East 6

Zach Flaskamp tossed five innings off three-hit ball in relief of Lane Thomas and Lacy's heroics helped JC rally for a game one win.

Trailing 5-3 after two innings, Blake Johnson's solo home run in the third and Murray Hutchinson's RBI-triple in the fourth helped tie the game at 5-5.

CAC retook the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fourth on Josh Bower's sac fly.

Lacy (2-for-3, 2 HR, 3 RBIs) then came up in the seventh with one on and two out and delivered a two-run home run to win it for JC, 7-6.

Garrett Langrell got three groundouts in the bottom half to earn his second save of the season.

Coastal Alabama-East 13, Jones 11

Jones fell behind 4-0 after two frames but fought back with a barrage of doubles and Basiel Williams Jr.'s home run before falling 13-11.

The Bobcats took their first lead, 5-4, in the top of the third thanks to Williams' home run, an error and a pair of RBI-singles from O'Neill Burgos and Johnson.

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Warhawks rallied for six runs in the bottom half to take a 10-5 lead and never relinquished the lead.

Jones scored three in the seventh and had the tying run at the plate until a strikeout ended the game.

Hutchinson was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Kirkland Trahan was 2-for-4 and Tyler Ducksworth was 2-for-2 with four runs scored.
