TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jones wrapped up its non-conference slate at the Shelton State New Year's Classic this weekend, falling 87-62 to the host Bucs before a hard-fought 81-75 bounce back win over Wallace State.
The Bobcats moved to 7-2 with their second win over a ranked opponent this season.

Jones came out a little sluggish after a three-week break and suffered its biggest loss of the season in a 25-point setback at Shelton State on Friday.
JC trailed by 14 after a quarter of play and wouldn't get any closer than six the rest of the way.
Sisters LaTascya and LaTora Duff combined for 40 points for the Bucs and Shelby Jane Petty added 14 off the bench.
Jatyjia Jones had a team-high 16 points for the Bobcats and
Destiny Haymer added 12.
JC was limited to a season-low six assists and shot 38 percent for the game. Shelton State finished with 18 assists on 30 makes and shot 44 percent.

Jones led 39-35 at the half and by just one after three quarters, 60-59, but held off Imari Martin and her 33 points to get revenge from a double digit loss in Hanceville earlier this season.
Unlike the first meeting between the two teams in November when the Lions hit 13 threes, JC held Wallace State to 5-of-21 shooting from downtown in the win.
Jones shot 49 percent against 36 percent shooting for Wallace State and owned the edge in rebounds (+11), assists (+11) and steals (+8).
Tye Jones had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead JC, followed by Haymer with 15 points and eight assists and
Chyna Allen with 12 points and six rebounds.
The Bobcats will open MACJC south division play at Hinds on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
