PERKINSTON – No. 11 Jones College used a 13-3 run in the second quarter and went on to defeat Mississippi Gulf Coast 60-46 here Thursday night at the Weathers-Wentzell Center.
The Bobcats are now 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the MACJC South Division. It was the 16th straight victory for Jones over MGCCC.
MGCCC led 17-13 after the first quarter, but Jones got hot in the second quarter.
Chyna Allen's (Harrison Central) 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Bobcats a 34-24 halftime lead. Jones would lead 52-39 after three quarters.
Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) led Jones with 14 points.
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) had 12.
LaMiracle Sims (Moss Point) and
Daja Woodard (Mobile, Alabama) both had 'double-doubles' with each player getting 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Haymer had seven rebounds and seven assists, while
Jatyjia Jones (Pontotoc) had eight rebounds.
The Bobcats were 23-of-76 (7-of-24 from 3-point range) from the floor and 7-of-14 from the free throw line.
Kayla Simmons topped MGCCC with 11 points.

MGCCC, 12-2 overall and 4-2 in division play, goes to Hinds on Monday.
