ELLISVILLE – No. 11 Jones College rolled to its seventh straight victory here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Jones scored the game's first seven points as they whipped Copiah-Lincoln 81-56.
The Bobcats are now 13-2 overall, 7-0 in the MACJC South Division.
Daja Woodard (Mobile, Alabama) led four Bobcats in double figures with 15 points.
LaMiracle Sims (Moss Point) had 14,
Jordan Clark (South Jones) had 12 and
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) added 10.
Sims converted a 3-point play to put jones up 7-0 at the 8:07 mark of the opening quarter. The Bobcats led 23-7 after the opening period.
A 3-pointer by Clark with 2:28 left in the second quarter gave Jones a 42-16 lead. The Bobcats led 44-19 at halftime.
A jumper by
Jatyjia Jones (Pontotoc) at 6:46 of the third quarter gave the Bobcats its longest lead of the night at 52-21. Jones led 64-40 after three quarters of play.
Woodard had seven blocked shots.
Ebony Gayden (McComb) topped the Bobcats with nine rebounds with Woodard and Sims each getting seven boards.
Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) and
Chyna Allen (Harrison Central) both had five assists. Haymer has 99 assists on the season and is second in the NJCAA with 7.2 assists per game.
Jones was 29-of-61 from the floor (7-of-18 from3-point range) for 48 percent.
The Bobcats limited Co-Lin to a 25 percent shooting night. The Wolves were only 15-of-60, including a 3-for-27 night in the first half.
The Bobcats were 16-of-24 from the free throw line and Co-Lin was 25-of-39. The Bobcats outrebounded the Wolves, 46-42.
Jones had 13 turnovers compared to 15 for Co-Lin. The Bobcats outscored the Wolves 24-4 in points off turnovers.
Sha'Quandra Carter was the only Co-Lin player in double figures with 16 points.
