No. 11 Bobcats pull away from Southwest, 86-56

ELLISVILLE – The No. 11 Jones College Lady Bobcats outscored Southwest 36-11 over the final 14 minutes and whipped the Lady Bears 86-56 here Tuesday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
 
Jones placed five players in double figures, as they improved to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the MACJC.
 
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) and Jatyjia Jones (Pontotoc) led the way with 13 points each, Chyna Allen (Harrison Central) and Ebony Gayden (McComb) had 12 points each and Daja Woodard (Mobile, Alabama) finished with 10 points.
 
LaMiracle Sims (Moss Point) had 10 rebounds with Jatyjia Jones adding nine. Woodard and Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) both had eight rebounds. Haymer, who leads the NJCAA in assists at 7.3 per game, had eight assists. Allen and Jordan Clark (South Jones) had four assists each, as the Lady Bobcats finished with 21 assists.
 
The Lady Bobcats were 34-of-67 from the floor, including 6-of-16 from 3-point range, for 51 percent.
 
Jones led 22-11 after the first quarter and 43-30 at halftime. Southwest pulled within 50-45 with 3:55 left in the third quarter before the Lady Bobcats took control. Jones would lead 59-36 after three quarters and the Lady Bears would get no closer.
 
Taylor Ben led Southwest with 11 points and D'Mya Wilson added 10. The Lady Bears fall to 10-4 overall, 3-2 in the division.
