ELLISVILLE – The No. 24 Jones College dropped a 6-3 match to No. 18 Hinds here Monday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
Jones won one point in doubles.
Erich Fischer (Wesson) and
Jacob Johnson (North Pike) downed Bryce Livingston and Chris Adams in No. 2 doubles, 8-5. In No. 1 doubles,
Jordi Morey (Spain) and
Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) lost to Carlos Trujillo and Mateo Garcia, 5-8. In No. 3 doubles,
James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) and
Cody Courtney (Florence) lost 6-8 to Eric Holmes and Drew Rexrode.
Monsalve defeated Garcia in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-6, 10-5 and Johnson whipped Livingston in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Morey fell to Trujillo in No. 1 singles, 0-6, 2-6 and Fischer lost to Holmes in No. 3 singles, 1-6, 2-6. Courtney lost to Chris Adams in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 6-10 and McWilliams dropped a 7-6 (6), 5-7, 2-10 decision to Rexrode in No. 6 singles.
Jones travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday and hosts Holmes at 2 p.m. Wednesday in its final home match of the season. The regular season ends with a match at Itawamba on Friday.
Hinds, 13-2, entertains East Central on Tuesday.
