ELLISVILLE – After a slow start in the first quarter, No. 12 Jones proved to be too much for Coastal Alabama-North over the final three quarters as they placed six in double figures in a 96-49 rout on Thursday night.
JC improved to 5-1 on the young season, 4-0 at home, while Coastal remained winless.
Trailing 11-6 in the opening quarter, a 13-2 run, started and finished by
Ebony Gayden, put the Bobcats on top 19-13 and they led the rest of the way.
Gayden had 13 in the half to lead all scorers, while
LaMiracle Sims had 11 points and 11 rebounds, as JC led 52-29 at the break.
The Bobcats poured it on the second half, shooting 44 percent and holding the Eagles to 6-of-32 shooting from the floor. They made a living in the paint, outscoring Coastal 54-10 on the night.
Gayden had 10 of her career-high 23 in the second half and
Jatyjia Jones had 12 points in 13 minutes.
JC outscored Coastal 24-8 in the final quarter.
Behind Gayden's 23 points and 13 rebounds, Sims added a double-double, J. Jones added 16 and
Chyna Allen chipped in 12 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals.
Coastal was led by Laneja Warner with 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats open south division play on Monday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. against Meridian (3-5). The game will be carried live on
