ELLISVILLE – Paced by six Bobcats in double figures and three others with nine points, Jones rolled to a 118-61 season-opening win over CMP Prep Academy Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Jones led 48-29 at the break and poured it on in the second half with a 70-point outburst.
Tied 9-9 at the 15:25-mark, the Bobcats took control with a 30-10 run over the next 10 minutes, capped by a
Ladarius Anderson dunk.
JC shot 53 percent on the night and held CMP to 24 percent shooting. After hitting just 2-of-18 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes, JC was 8-of-13 from downtown in the second half.
Anderson and
Sai Fisher led the Bobcats with 18 points apiece, followed by 15 from
SharDarrion Allen, 14 from
Tradavis Thompson and 10 apiece from
Kenneth Rogers and
Sayveon Bumpers.
Casey Smith Jr. dished out nine of JC's 30 assists on the night and
John Rawls had four of JC's nine blocks.
The Drillers were led by Dominique Bailey's double-double of 20 points and 10 boards and 19 from Marquis Strawder. JC outscored CMP's bench 64-7 on the evening.
The Bobcats continue a four-game homestand to open the season on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. against Blessed IJN Academy.
