ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats never trailed en route to an 81-68 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Jones is now 11-4 overall and they are in sole possession of second place in the MACJC South Division at 5-1.
The Bobcats put together one of their most complete games of the year in knocking off the Bulldogs.

Sayveon Bumpers (Quitman) 3-pointer put Jones up 16-9 with 14:05 to play in the first half. The Bobcats would take their longest lead of the opening half when
Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) scored at 5:54 to make it 30-19.
MGCCC came back and pulled within 33-30 with 1:47 to play in the half on a Dillyn Neely 3-pointer. Alexander's two free throws with 4.7 seconds left, gave Jones a 39-32 lead, but Neely hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to trim the lead to 39-35 at halftime.
Willie Logan's basket to start the second half cut the Jones' margin to 39-37, but the Bulldogs would get no closer.

Winceton Edwards' (Oak Grove) layup capped a quick 8-0 run and put the Bobcats up 47-37 with 16:55 left. MGCCC scored six straight points to make it 47-43, but
Casey Smith Jr.'s (Columbus) two free throws at 10:14 ended a 13-4 run and put the Bobcats ahead, 60-47.
The Bulldogs fought back and trimmed the lead to 62-56 with 6:40 remaining when Tafari Simms scored. But Edwards answered with a 3-pointer to make it 65-56 with 5:42 to play.
Jones would then pull away and take its longest lead at 81-65 with just 24.9 seconds left on two
Kenneth Rogers (Starkville) free throws.
David McCoy (Meridian) led the Bobcats with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Rogers and Edwards both had 13 points and three 3-pointers. Alexander and Smith scored 10 points each.
Neely paced MGCCC with 17 points. Simms and Keevon Oney each had 11 points.
The Bulldogs are now 12-3 overall, 4-2 in division play.
Jones ends the first half of division play when they travel to Copiah-Lincoln for a 7:30 p.m. Monday game.
MGCCC entertains Hinds on Monday.
