WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – No. 13 Jones College used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant effort on the boards to earn a 92-81 victory over ASU Mid-South on Friday night in the ASU Greyhound Tip-Off Classic.
The Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the season and 7-0 all-time against the Greyhounds (1-2).
Jones led by as many as 16 in the opening half and built a 44-34 halftime advantage before holding off ASU Mid-South in the second half.
The Greyhounds trimmed the lead to 52-48 early second half before a David Washington threw quickly pushed the lead back out to seven.
The Greyhounds took their only lead, 63-62, with 9:04 to play after hitting two of three free throws on a three-shot foul, but couldn't overcome the Bobcats' efficient offensive performance.
Traevon Koch led four Jones players in double figures with 26 points, shooting 11 of 19 from the floor. David Washington added a career-high 25 points, connecting on 10 of 13 field-goal attempts, including three 3-pointers.
Bob Dickson recorded a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Wesley Lindsey finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Bobcats shot 58 percent from the field and outrebounded ASU Mid-South 46-24. Jones also distributed 17 assists.
Damariye Redmond paced the Greyhounds with 27 points, while Kaleel Sutton-White added 24 points and Lamont Jackson chipped in 16.
Jones will wrap up play in the ASU Greyhound Tip-Off Classic on Saturday against Connors State. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in West Memphis.
