POPLARVILLE – The 17^th-ranked Pearl River Wildcats held off Jones College 75-68 here Monday night at Marvin R. White Coliseum.
The Bobcats are now 8-4 overall, 2-1 in the MACJC South Division.
Pearl River's Eric Thornton Jr. converted a 3-point play with 1:50 to play to give the Wildcats a 71-60 lead.
But Jones would not go quietly vs. the undefeated Wildcats.
Casey Smith Jr. (Columbus) scored at 1:39 to make it 71-62. Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) hit a 3-pointer at 1:21 and another with 40.5 seconds to play to make it 71-68.
But Christopher Agbo got loose for a slam dunk to put the Wildcats up 73-68 with 36.2 seconds showing.
The Bobcats would not be able to score again and Pearl River would secure the victory.
Jones started off the game in good shape, taking a 12-7 lead with 14:54 showing in the first half when Alexander hit a 15-footer. 
An Alexander slam dunk with 3:19 to play in the opening half gave the Bobcats its final lead of the game at 29-28. PRCC led 31-30 at halftime.
The Wildcats started off well in the second half and would take its longest lead of the game at 58-46 with 9:07 remaining when Agbo made a free throw.
Alexander led the Bobcats with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, and Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) added 18, including three 3-pointers. Alexander led the team with seven rebounds with Michael Williams Jr. (Rayville, Louisiana) and Zachariah Malone (Shady Grove, Louisiana) getting six boards each. Williams had five assists.
Brandon Rachal led the Wildcats with 15 points. Jonas James III had 14 and Thornton had 11.
Pearl River is now 12-0 overall, 3-0 in division play.
Jones will entertain East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The game will air on www.jcjc.tv.
The Wildcats will go to Hinds on Thursday.
