GOODMAN – The 8
th-rated Jones College Lady Bobcats opened the season on a good note here Thursday night at Ras Branch Coliseum.
Breonca Ducksworth (West Jones) scored 16 points and had five steals as the Lady Bobcats defeated Holmes, 74-52.
Destiny Haymer (Holmes County Central) added 13 points and
Ty Hawkins (Brentwood, New York) had 12.
Jatyjia Jones (Ingomar) added eight points, with
Maya Jones (Northwest Rankin),
Endia Holliday (South Jones),
Kyia Weathersby (Collins),
LaMiracle Sims (Moss Points),
Chyna Allen (Harrison Central) and
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) scoring four points each.
Kacey Bradford (Jackson Murrah) had one point.
Holliday led the team with 10 rebounds, Weathersby added eight boards and
Maya Jones had seven.
The Lady Bobcats led 17-13 after the first quarter, 34-22 at halftime and 57-41 after three quarters.
Jekalen Jones led Holmes with 11 points and Brysa Maxwell added 10.
The Lady Bobcats, 1-0, host Bossier Parish Community College (Louisiana) at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at A.B. Howard Gymnasium. They will host No. 6 Shelton State Community College (Alabama) at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 15.
Holmes, 0-2, is at home vs. Hinds on Monday.
