TYLER, Texas – The 10th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats fell in the NJCAA South District playoffs here Saturday night at Pat Hartley Field.
Top-ranked and defending national champion Tyler Junior College (Texas) defeated the Lady Bobcats, 3-1.
Tyler's Julia Trabach scored on a penalty kick at 1:27. Maria De La Fuente scored at 18:09 on an assist by Hitomi Kono.
Jones trimmed the lead to 2-1 at 57:58 when
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) scored with
Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) getting the assist.
The final goal came at 80:07 when Patricia Estupinan scored.
Alexis Wilson (Long Beach) was in goal for Jones and was credited with six saves.
The Lady Bobcats end the season at 14-3, while Tyler is now 20-1-1.
Tyler advances to the women's NJCAA Division I National Tournament Nov. 17-22 in Foley, Alabama.
