ELLISVILLE – The 8
th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats won its home opener in impressive form here Tuesday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Keyara Jones (Heidelberg) led the way with 22 points as Jones whipped Bossier Parish Community College (Louisiana), 98-60.
Chyna Allen (Harrison Central) added 13 with
Ty Hawkins (Brentwood, New York) and
Kyia Weathersby (Collins) scoring 11 each.
BPCC led 8-5 midway through the first quarter before Jones scored eight straight points to go up 13-8. The Lady Bobcats led 17-12 after the first quarter.
Jones hit two straight 3-pointers to start the second quarter and the Lady Bobcats would lead 39-24 at halftime. A
DaMia Henry (Harrison Central) assist to Allen gave Jones a 67-43 lead after the third quarter.
Monette Bolden led BPCC with 21 points and Walaria Henderson added 11.
The Lady Bobcats, 2-0, will return home for a big contest vs. No. 6 Shelton State College (Alabama) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. It will be the final game for the Thanksgiving break for Jones.
Bossier Parish, 3-2, goes to Cedar College (Texas) on Saturday.
