CLARKSDALE – Jones County Junior College pulled away for a 66-53 win over Coahoma Community College here Thursday ngith at The Pinnacle.
JCJC, 4-3, led 25-21 at halftime and 47-46 with just over six minutes remaining. But the Bobcats outscored the Tigers 19-7 down the stretch.
Malik Henry (Terry) had 21 points and 5 rebounds for the Bobcats, while Omar Steele (Laurel) had 10 points and 10 rebounds. David McCoy (Meridian) had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Michael Williams (Rayville, Louisiana) also had 10 points. David Gaines, Jr. (Wayne County) had 5 points and 9 rebounds, while Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) had 6 points and Mason Daniels (Atlanta, Georgia) had 4 points.
Coahoma is now 2-9.
The JCJC men will host the William Carey University Junior Varsity at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. The Bobcats travel to No. 14 Shelton State (Alabama) on Dec. 16.
Coahoma does not play again until Jan. 11 at East Mississippi.
