WESSON – Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) recorded her fifth 'double-double' in six games to spark No. 9 Jones County to a 65-52 victory over Copiah-Lincoln here Monday night at Mullen Gymnasium.
Cherry had 15 points and 15 rebounds for JCJC. Alexis Tolefree (Conway, Arkansas) led the Lady Bobcats with 17 points, while K.K. Tassin (Terry) added 11. Chrystal Ezechukwu (Stone Mountain, Georgia) had 6 points and 10 rebounds, while Tassin had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
T'Kyra Hicks had 16 points for Co-Lin. Alexandria Patton and Kyeonia Harris added 10 each.
The Lady Bobcats were 24-of-62 from the floor (3-of-19 from 3-point range) for 39 percent. JCJC was 14-of-27 from the free throw line.
Co-Lin was 16-of-64 from the field (3-of-14 from 3-point range) for 25 percent. The Lady Wolves were 17-of-20 from the free throw line.
JCJC outrebounded Co-Lin, 49-48.
The Lady Bobcats led 17-15 after the first quarter, 31-22 at halftime and 49-40 after three quarters.
JCJC is now 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the division.
Co-Lin falls to 8-1 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Lady Bobcats go to Coahoma for a 6 p.m. game on Thursday. The contest will air on www.coahomasports.com.
Co-Lin hosts Delgado (Louisiana) on Saturday.
