TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA – The No. 11 ranked Shelton State (Alabama) Bucs defeated Jones County Junior College 72-64 here Saturday evening.
The Bobcats hung tough with the Bucs.
JCJC led 20-14 midway through the first half, but Shelton State came back to lead 40-35 at halftime.
The Bobcats were within 61-58 with six minutes to play, but the Bucs would lead 69-60 with 1:24 remaining.
Malik Henry (Terry) led the Bobcats, 5-4, with 19 points, Mason Daniels (Atlanta, Georgia) added 15 and Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) had 13. David Gaines, Jr. (Wayne County) had 6 points, Omar Steele (Laurel) had 5, David McCoy (Meridian) had 4 and Michael Williams (Rayville, Louisiana) had 2.
The JCJC men's team will host Louisiana Christian Prep on Jan. 8.
The Bucs are now 12-0.
Shelton State will play in the Josh Artis Memorial Classic at Eastern Florida State Community College in Melbourne, Florida Dec. 28-30.
