PERKINSTON – The Jones County Junior College put together a dominant performance here Thursday night at the Weathers-Wentzell Center.
The Lady Bobcats led 30-3 with just over six minutes left in the first half and coasted to a 72-44 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. JCJC is now 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the division.
The Lady Bobcats scored the game's first 11points and never looked back.
Aliyah Bell's 3-point play gave JCJC an 11-0 lead with 15:09 left in the first half.
Taylor Baudoin's 15-footer put the Lady Bobcats up 30-3 with 6:20 showing.
JCJC's longest lead of the opening half was 37-9 when
Kadie Parker made two free throws with 1:06 remaining, The Lady Bobcats led 37-14 at the break.
MGCCC chipped into the lead in the second half and cut the advantage to 53-37 with 8:27 to play when Cilinda Brown made a 3-pointer.
But the hosts would not get any closer. JCJC matched its longest lead at the end of the game.
Parker's 22 points paced JCJC, while Baudoin and
Starla Daggans added 16 each.
Brown had 11 and Mariah Lewis had 10 for the Lady Bulldogs, 6-9 overall and 1-7 in the division.
The Bobcats will host East Central on Monday in A.B. Howard Gymnasium with the women's game starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. Both games will air on
www.jcjc.tv.
MGCCC travels to Meridian on Monday.
